Your Heart Knows What Logic Cannot See

Follow your heart, even when logic tells you otherwise.

Follow your heart, even when logic tells you otherwise.

I have always believed that the greatest gift we have been given in this existence is our freedom, our ability to choose whatever we want to become, whatever we want to experience, whatever we want to create.

But the tragedy is that most people never truly exercise this freedom.

Since childhood we have been conditioned to think logically, to be reasonable, to be practical, to follow a path already laid out by society. We are constantly told what we should do, what we should become, what we should believe in and how we should lead our lives.

And slowly, in this process, something beautiful inside us starts dying.

Our inner voice. Our swabhava. Our very individuality.

Just contemplate on this one thing: If everyone is unique, if everyone has different experiences, different desires, different dreams, then why in God's name should everyone follow the same path?

Why should the logic of one person become the reality of another?

Logic can only see what already exists

I will give you a simple example.

Imagine a child who absolutely loves painting. Whenever he gets free time he starts drawing something, creating something, experimenting with colours. He doesn't care whether his paintings will make him money or whether society will appreciate them.

He simply loves doing it.

Now as he grows up, society starts imposing its logic upon him.

What will you achieve by painting? How will you earn money? Why don't you become an engineer, a doctor or get a stable job?

And because the child is surrounded by people who constantly repeat the same things, he starts doubting himself.

Slowly, he abandons painting, chooses a career he never truly desired and spends the next forty years doing something his heart never wanted.

Now tell me one thing.

Was that logical?

Yes, perhaps he earned money, perhaps he acquired a beautiful house, a car, everything society told him was necessary to live a good life.

But what about that little child inside him who wanted to paint?

What about the infinite possibilities that could have manifested through him had he simply followed his inner nature?

What about the paintings that were never painted, the art that was never created, the experiences that were never experienced?

And the most beautiful part is that he didn't even have to become a famous artist. The very act of painting, the joy of expressing himself, was already a reward in itself.

We have become so obsessed with the destination that we have forgotten to enjoy the journey.

The greatest people followed something beyond logic

Whenever I read about the greats, whether they are scientists, inventors, artists or spiritual masters, I try to understand their mindset rather than merely worshipping their achievements.

And one thing that fascinates me is their willingness to follow something within themselves even when the world around them could not understand it.

Take Srinivasa Ramanujan.

A young man from India, with little formal training in advanced mathematics, who followed his extraordinary mathematical intuition and produced ideas that fascinated some of the greatest mathematicians of his time.

His intuition didn't eliminate the need for mathematical proof. But it led him towards discoveries that conventional training alone had not given him.

Now imagine if Ramanujan had abandoned his fascination because the people around him couldn't understand what he was doing.

Imagine if every inventor, every artist, every explorer had simply accepted the boundaries of what was already known.

Where would humanity be?

Every great invention was once something that did not exist. Every great discovery was once something that was unknown.

So how can you allow what is presently known to decide the limits of what you can create?

This is precisely why I advocate following your heart.

Your intellect is an instrument, not your master

Don't misunderstand me. I am not saying logic is useless.

Logic is beautiful. Intellect is beautiful. They are extraordinary instruments that help us understand, analyse and execute our ideas.

But why should the instrument become the master?

Your heart tells you what you love, what fascinates you, what makes you restless, what you simply cannot stop thinking about.

Your intellect can then help you bring that vision into existence.

Let your heart decide the direction and let your intellect help you walk upon it.

But don't allow your intellect to kill the dream before you have even begun walking.

And remember, following your heart doesn't mean blindly acting upon every passing emotion. Become aware of yourself. Observe your desires, your fears, your conditioning. With awareness you begin to understand what genuinely arises from your inner nature and what has merely been imposed upon you.

You are allowed to be wrong

This is another thing that people seem to have forgotten.

You are allowed to make mistakes.

You are allowed to choose a path and later discover that it wasn't right for you.

You are allowed to change your beliefs, contradict yourself, abandon your old identity and begin all over again.

What is so wrong about being wrong?

Every mistake teaches you something. Every experience expands your understanding. Every time you fall you discover something about yourself that you didn't know before.

Our true nature is not that of a rigid tree stuck in one place but that of a breeze flowing freely.

You didn't arrive on this earth to become a robot.

You have come to experience this life as a human being.

And being human means loving, experimenting, creating, failing, succeeding, crying, laughing, discovering and living every moment in totality.

Swatantrya — Total Freedom

This is ultimately what my philosophy of Swatantrya comes down to.

Everyone is unique. Everyone is an individual. Everyone is free.

We should respect everyone's freedom and let their swabhava flower completely rather than imposing our own understanding of life upon them.

I believe that when individuals truly discover their inner nature and express it fully, their unique talents will naturally contribute something beautiful to this existence.

And you know what fascinates me the most?

In Kashmir Shaivism, the entire universe is understood as the free manifestation of divine consciousness. The infinite expressing itself through countless finite forms.

And here we are, these beautiful expressions of consciousness, constantly trying to become like someone else.

Why?

Why should a rose try to become a lotus?

Why should you try to become anyone other than yourself?

You are here to discover what is possible through you, not to spend your existence repeating what has already been done by others.

So follow your heart, my friend.

Follow that inner voice which makes you restless, which keeps calling you towards something even when the entire world tells you otherwise.

You might fail, you might succeed, you might discover something entirely different from what you originally imagined.

But at least you would have lived.

At least you would have experienced.

At least you would have given your inner nature the freedom to flower.

And isn't that infinitely more beautiful than spending your entire life wondering what could have been?

Delusional optimism is the way. Swatantrya is the foundation. And your heart is where the journey begins. ✍🏻
