What If Reality Is the Delusion?

Who decided that what we know today is all there is to know?

Delusional optimism is a term you must have heard from time to time, but I wanna ask you, what exactly is delusional? If we go by the Cambridge Dictionary, it means holding false or unrealistic beliefs that do not match reality.

Now I wanna ask you another question, what is reality? Is it something we see every day, feel every day or perceive through our five senses every day? If it's that, then I must shatter your reality by telling you that our five senses perceive only a tiny fraction of what exists in this universe. So whatever you think is reality is just a very small picture the universe shows you. If you map the universe onto a movie screen, then you are just seeing a very very small pixel out of the whole screen. It's like looking at an actress's pimple while missing the whole beautiful actress on the screen.

And you don't even have to look far to understand this. Right now, as you are reading this article, you are surrounded by radio waves, WiFi signals, ultraviolet light and so much more that your eyes cannot see. Does that mean they don't exist? Of course not. They existed even when humanity had absolutely no knowledge of them. So what makes you so sure that whatever you are experiencing right now is all there is to experience? How much more could be out there that we haven't even discovered yet?

Now imagine the world 500 years ago when most people still believed that the Sun revolved around the Earth. We had adopted a geocentric view of the universe for centuries and it was considered to be reality. Even though it was false, we have to ask ourselves one question, did it really matter? People at that time lived their lives believing they were at the centre of the universe and after some time, say 80 years, they died just like we will too. And now even though we know that Earth is just one planet among countless others, many of us spend our lives feeling insignificant, believing ourselves to be mere dust in this enormous universe. So even though we might be right, are we happy? And does being right matter more than being happy, being joyful, being blissful? Because there is no escaping death.

And this isn't even the first time humanity has been wrong about what is possible. Imagine going back a few centuries and telling someone that one day humans would sit inside gigantic metal machines weighing hundreds of tonnes and fly across oceans in a matter of hours. Imagine telling them that you would be able to see and speak to someone sitting thousands of kilometres away through a tiny device in your hand. They might have laughed at you and called you delusional, yet here we are doing exactly that. So I wanna ask you, how many things that we consider impossible today are simply things that we haven't figured out yet? And how many possibilities have we already rejected just because they don't fit into our current understanding of reality?

If you ask me, I would prefer being happy more than being right and that's why I say to you that you question everything the masses believe in. Who decided that what we know today is all there is to know? What we collectively call reality today might become tomorrow's ignorance, so why imprison yourself within it? Why should the understanding of the masses become the limit of your existence?

And now forget about the universe for a moment and look at your own life. How many things have you stopped yourself from doing simply because somebody told you that you couldn't? How many dreams have you killed before even attempting them? How many times have you called something impossible without ever trying it? And most importantly, how do you even know that these limits are yours and not something that somebody else planted in your mind years ago? We spend so much of our lives accepting what society tells us is possible, what we should become, how we should live, what we should believe and even what should make us happy. But have you ever stopped and asked yourself, who gave them this authority over your life?

Believe in possibilities that make you happy, joyful and blissful. Remove all those unnecessary constraints from your mind because you are here on this planet for a limited time, why would you wanna live that life under limits? Why not experiment with life, explore everything you are capable of and discover for yourself what is possible instead of accepting somebody else's conclusions? Unlock yourself, be limitless, discard the reality that has been imposed upon you. Stop allowing the beliefs of others to determine what you can or cannot become.

The only truth to life that I want you to discover is freedom. You are free to think anything, question anything, love anything and explore whatever you are capable of. So please please use your freedom judiciously and don't surrender your freedom to how the masses think or what they say. Become your own source of light, become your own sense of truth ✍🏻
